If you’re a classic car enthusiast, you’re sure to have kept your eye out for classic car events around the world. Which classic car events have you attended so far this year? With travel restrictions being lifted worldwide there are so many exciting and engaging shows to attend.
You might have heard about the spectacular “The Ice” show in Switzerland earlier this year. Some noteworthy classic cars were the 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO, fully restored Lamborghini Countach LP400, and 1965 Aston Martin DB5.
In the United States, we had the “Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance” during early spring in Amelia Island, Florida. It was a three day event and marked the 27th annual showing. The key highlight of this show was its RM Sotheby’s auction. During the auction, a rare Figoni et Falaschi-bodied 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Teardrop Coupe was sold for 13 million USD.
If you missed out on these great shows, don’t worry we have plenty more left for the remaining half of the year!
The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering
On August 19th, “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering” will take place in Quail Lodge & Golf Club, California, USA. It marks the 19th annual showing and differentiates itself from other car shows as it displays not only classic cars but also vintage motorcycles. This year’s themes are:
- 50th Anniversary of the BMW M Division
- All Things MINI Cooper
- 70 Years of Jaguar and their Wins at Le Mans
Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
On 21 August, the “Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance” will be hosted in Pebble Beach, California, USA. Its winner in 2021 was the 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Autobahn Kurier. I can’t wait to see which classic cars are nominated and win this year. This show is known for having a long history going back decades, this year will mark its 71st annual show! A few beauties you can look forward to seeing at this year’s show are the Lincoln Centennial, Talbot-Lago Grand Sport, and Alfa Romeo 8C.
Is it a coincidence that both “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering” and “Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance” are held in the same week in California? No. It is because is Monterey Car Week from August 12th to the 21st in, you guessed it, Monterey County, California! It is the biggest and most celebrated automotive event in the area.
There are many other events held during this week but we thought that “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering” and “Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance” were to two most notable shows worth mentioning in our article. So if you can’t stay in Monterey for the entire Car Week, make sure to at least stop by for these two shows!
I will keep this blog short with just the shows from the USA. However, some upcoming global events worth noting are Poltu Quatu Classic in Italy, the Classic (the Silverstone Classic) in the UK, and Chantilly Arts & Elegance in France.
